What to wear

✦ ✦ ✦

We have chosen dress codes that suit the spirit of each occasion — festive elegance on the first evening, and the charm of an English garden party on ceremony day.

Saturday · 4th July
Black Tie
Gentlemen in black tuxedo or dinner jacket. Ladies in a formal evening gown or an elegant cocktail dress.
Sunday · 5th July
Morning Coat
Ladies are invited to wear a tea or knee-length dress in a pastel hue or the colour of a garden bloom, dressed with a hat or fascinator. Gentlemen are encouraged in morning coat; a well-tailored charcoal suit is equally fitting for those who do not own one.

A word on the village

Stockbridge is famed for its wide, historic High Street — originally broad enough to herd livestock along as a drover's road — now lined with independent boutiques, art galleries, and characterful pubs. It is home to England's oldest fishing society, founded in 1822, and the River Test running alongside is one of the country's most celebrated chalk streams. Small in scale but rich in history and charm, it is the kind of place that rewards a slow wander.

A few favourite stops along the High Street: Thyme & Tides, The Ecology Store, Orvis, and Robjent's.

Good to know

✦ ✦ ✦
Do I need to own a morning coat?
Not at all. A well-fitted charcoal suit is entirely appropriate and will look wonderful. Morning coat is the suggested attire for those who already own one.
What if I'd like to wear a hat or fascinator but don't own one?
Tricia's parents are very kindly offering to source a selection from China for any lady who would love to join in the tradition. Please do let us know and we will happily arrange one for you.
Is accommodation arranged for everyone?
Rooms have been booked and paid for all out-of-town guests. Local guests will be joining us on Sunday for the ceremony and celebrations.
How do I get from the hotel to the ceremony?
The Greyhound on the Test is a short and pleasant 3–5 minute walk along the High Street from The Grosvenor. No transport is needed — simply stroll along together.
What time does the coach leave London?
The bus departs London at approximately 12:00 noon on Saturday, 4th July. Full details — including the precise departure point — will follow by email.
When does the weekend end?
The ceremony day concludes at approximately 5:00 pm on Sunday, 5th July. Travel arrangements for the return journey are your own unless otherwise noted.
